Luxury river cruise provider Tauck has announced the production of two new ships that will be completed in 2026. This comes after a record year in European river cruise sales for Tauck, which offers unique and exclusive access to hidden gems and must-see sights, often when the crowds have gone or going behind the scenes into places not accessible to the public.
The two new riverboats will set sail along the Rhone and will feature 68 cabins accommodating a maximum of just 130 guests. Along with these cabins, the riverboats will also feature 8 spacious suites ranging in size from 300 sq ft to 180 sq ft. These new riverboats are part of Tauck’s expansion into France, with a smaller ship sailing along the River Seine also planned for 2026. This riverboat will accommodate up to 124 guests with 52 suites onboard.
The Tauck CEO Dan Mahar says “The two new ships will continue the company’s proven formula for success on European rivers, prioritising guests’ comfort and the quality of their onboard experience.” Tauck has long been leading the way for cruise providers moving away from the industry norm of maximising passenger capacity. When compared to other cruise line ships of the same size Tauck set their maximum capacity 46% lower than others to ensure they continue to provide the best service and experience for their guests. This also extends to cabin size and public areas feeling less crowded and more relaxed for everyone onboard.
The company said they have listened to what their guests have been saying when designing public spaces such as restaurants, lounges, spas, and gym facilities, which will receive a special focus to meet the high standards of Tauck and their guests.
As with all Tauck riverboats, these two new ships will sail with a dedicated Cruise Director and up to three Director Guides to provide the highest level of service to guests on fully inclusive itineraries, including airport transfers. For solo travellers, the single supplement is waived on some cabin types keeping with the company’s tradition of welcoming all travellers.
